Fully Comprehensive, in one paragraph
Fully Comprehensive is full all-risks cover: damage to your own car from any cause (at-fault accidents, vandalism, parking dings, kerb strikes), plus everything in Third-Party Extended (theft, fire, glass, civil liability). New vehicles are protected at 100% acquisition value for the first 2 years, then 120% market value from year 3. Excess is selectable from €200 to €900 - higher excess, lower premium. Right for new cars, leased cars, and any vehicle worth €15,000+.
Excess options at a glance
Choose your excess at quote: €200, €300, €360, €600 or €900. Higher excess means lower monthly premium. Excess applies to the total repair cost, not per damaged part - an ExpatInsurances differentiator that matters for multi-part repairs.
Frequently asked questions
What does 'with excess' mean?
Excess (also 'franchise' or 'deductible') is the first slice of any claim you pay yourself. If you choose €600 excess and have a €4,000 claim, you pay €600 and Caser pays €3,400. Higher excess = lower monthly premium. Available levels: €200, €300, €360, €600, €900. Caser doesn't currently offer no-excess on fully comprehensive.
Is excess per damaged part or per claim?
Per claim - the excess applies once to the total repair cost, not separately to each damaged part. Some other insurers apply it per part; Caser/ExpatInsurances applies it once. Important difference for multi-part repairs.
What's Stop & Go?
On-site breakdown repair where possible. The mechanic comes to you, fixes the issue if simple, or arranges towing and pays the garage directly. Standard with Fully Comprehensive.
What's the new-vehicle protection?
Cars under 2 years old are compensated at 100% acquisition value (not market value) for fire, theft and total loss. From year 3 onwards, compensation is 120% of market value - meaning you can replace with a slightly better car.
Should I take Fully Comprehensive or Third-Party Extended + Car-for-Car?
Fully Comp covers everyday damage (parking dings, fender benders, hitting a kerb). Third-Party Extended + Car-for-Car covers theft, fire and total loss only - no everyday damage. Fully Comp is right for new cars, leased cars and high-value vehicles. Third-Party Extended + Car-for-Car works for 5-10 year-old cars where everyday damage is acceptable but you want total-loss protection.
Why no no-excess option?
Caser internal regulations don't currently offer no-excess fully comprehensive - it would push premiums above what most customers want to pay. The €200 excess option is the lowest available.
