    Our story

In 2011, Maya Kallio founded expatinsurances.es with a simple mission: make Spanish insurance accessible to the international community. As an expat herself, Maya understood the challenges of navigating bureaucracy in a foreign language.

What began as a small office on the Costa del Sol, helping British retirees understand their insurance options, has evolved into a comprehensive service supporting expats from across Europe, North America, and beyond.

Today, we're proud to have helped over 15,000 individuals and families find the right insurance coverage in Spain. We're fully licensed by the DGSFP (Dirección General de Seguros y Fondos de Pensiones), Spain's insurance regulator, and work with leading Spanish insurers including Mapfre, Axa, Sanitas, and Allianz.

Our multilingual team speaks English, Finnish, German, Swedish, and Spanish, ensuring you can discuss your insurance needs in your native language. We specialize in car insurance, home insurance, health insurance (including visa-ready plans), and business/liability coverage – all the essentials for expat life in Spain.

Whether you're a digital nomad in Barcelona, a retiree in Málaga, or a business owner in Madrid, we're here to simplify your Spanish insurance journey.
