What drives business insurance cost in Spain

Caser BAS PAQ is priced on a quote-by-quote basis. Premium depends on your sector, premises size, turnover, location and security features. Tell us about your business and we'll come back with a tailored quote.

Price drivers

  • Business type: retail, hospitality, professional services, pharmacy, hairdressing — each has its own risk profile
  • Premises size: square metres of trading area and any additional storage or back-office space
  • Annual turnover: directly affects business interruption limits and civil liability exposure
  • Location: urban vs rural, ground floor vs upper floor, neighbourhood crime statistics
  • Security features: alarms, CCTV, reinforced doors, safe deposits — better security typically lowers premiums
  • Sector add-ons: hospitality, pharmacy, real estate and hairdressing packages add tailored cover at fixed sector pricing

Example profiles

Small clothing shop or professional office, low footfall: usually BAS PAQ Basic — property, contents, basic civil liability, assistance
Restaurant, bar or pharmacy with regular customers: usually BAS PAQ Comfort with refrigerated goods and sector package
Established SME wanting maximum civil liability and personal accident: usually BAS PAQ Premium with full sector package
Hairdressing salon with rented premises: Comfort or Premium with First-Risk Building cover for tenant improvements

Request a quote and we will come back with the best option for your case.

Many expat business owners underinsure their contents and stock. Take time to calculate replacement values properly – it's the difference between a smooth claim and a painful shortfall.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Anything more specific — call or WhatsApp, we'll pick up.

What is business insurance in Spain?

Business insurance is a package of covers designed to protect your company's premises, contents, stock, income and liability. It can include buildings insurance, contents, stock, business interruption, public liability and more, depending on your activity.

Do I need business insurance if I work from home?

Possibly. Standard home insurance usually does not cover business activities, equipment or stock. If clients visit you at home or you store stock or professional equipment there, you should consider business insurance. We can help you choose the right setup.

Is business insurance mandatory in Spain?

Some elements can be required by law, your landlord, lenders or professional bodies. For example, certain sectors may need public liability or specific property cover. Even when not strictly mandatory, business insurance protects you from losses that could threaten your business.

What's the difference between business insurance and public liability?

Public liability is one part of business insurance – it covers injury or property damage claims from third parties. Business insurance usually includes additional cover for buildings, contents, stock and business interruption. We can help you decide whether you need a full package or a more focused policy.

How much business insurance do I need?

It depends on your premises, equipment, stock value and how long you could survive without income if something happened. We'll ask about these areas and help you choose realistic sums insured and limits based on your situation.

Does business insurance cover my employees?

Business insurance can include some covers that benefit employees (e.g. property or interruption), but injuries to employees are usually covered under a separate workers' or accident insurance. Tell us about your team and we'll recommend suitable solutions.

Can I include multiple locations on one policy?

In many cases, yes – but the insurer needs full details for each location. Depending on your structure, we may recommend separate policies or a combined package. We'll go through your setup and suggest the best approach.

Does business insurance cover online businesses?

It can. If you hold stock, use equipment, or have liability towards customers, you still have insurable risks. We can look at a combination of property, stock, liability and potentially cyber cover, depending on your business.

Are my tools and laptops covered outside the premises?

Only if the policy explicitly includes all-risks or specific portable equipment cover. Many base policies restrict cover to the premises. If you travel with equipment, we'll help you add the right extension.

What happens if a claim occurs?

Contact us as soon as possible. We'll guide you through the process – what evidence you need, how to report it and what to expect. The insurer will assess the claim under the policy terms and we'll stay on your side throughout.

Can my business insurance be combined with other policies?

Yes. We can coordinate your business insurance with your public liability, professional indemnity or vehicle insurance so that you're covered smoothly across different areas, without unnecessary overlaps.

How quickly can business insurance start?

For straightforward, low-risk activities, cover can start within a day or two. More complex sectors or larger businesses may require additional questions or documents, which can take longer. We'll always confirm your start date before you rely on the cover.
